Historical note

According to the order of the Labor Ministry nr. 45215, August 10, 1934 in Chisinau starts its activity The Cultural Center, the first director being Mr. Octav Sofian.
Afterwards, according to the order nr. 82367, November 21, 1934 the Labor Ministry would specify the orientation of this cultural institution: “ … for rising the moral and cultural level of the nation, conferences, festivals, shows, courses, theatres, movies etc. are organized in cooperation with cultural associations and educational establishments’ and labor hostel.” In 1940, after SSR of Moldova was created The Central House of Popular Creation as part of The Art Direction under The Soviet of Popular Commissars. In July 1945, the forenamed institution passes under the subordination of The Committee for the Institutions of the Cultural Dissemination. In November 1947 after the Country Popular Creation Houses were liquidated this institution was named Republican House of Popular Creation and since May 1953 has been under the subordination of the Culture Ministry since its creation.
Further the Republican House of Popular Creation was divided into two institutions: The Scientific-Methodical Republican Centre of Popular Creation and Cultural Activity and The Republican Methodical Cabinet. Since 1990 in Republic of Moldova exists only one institution of this kind: The National Centre of Popular Creation.
